Manchester based businesswoman Nicola Wood, has been passionate about hairdressing since she can remember. As a hair extension specialist, she was finding it time consuming, stressful and sometimes frustrating working alone, when there was no one free to pass the clients hair when fitting.

If you work in this field you will know exactly what she means and as we all know, time is a major factor in our wonderful world of hairdressing.

Nicola decided in 2016 that the hairdressing industry needed a hair extension holder to help herself and her fellow hair extension specialists. This was the light bulb moment, there were millions of people in the same boat as she was! There were so many hairdressers out there, and domestic clip-in wearers that desperately needed to save time and craved for a helping hand to fit and style extensions.

So, work began to create the Easiweft™ keeping all aspects of the product design and manufacturing within the UK. With no previous sales or marketing experience, Nicola began to sell her product to both hair extension specialists and clip-in hair extension wearers focusing on using social media to drive sales to her website.

Nicola applied to be on Dragons Den early 2018 to help get her product out there and following a rigorous assessment process and diligence, she recorded the show in May.  Preparation was key for Nicola, and she worked with other business gurus on her pitch and talked with former contestants to truly understand what to expect. 

The Dragon’s loved the product for its simplicity to solve a problem and Deborah Meaden and Jenny Campbell found it relatable to their hair extension dilemmas, whilst surprisingly Peter Jones showed his hair extension business knowledge as well as reminiscing about the other hair brand “the one that got away.”  The Dragons turned down Tangle Teezer, which is now one of the biggest success stories to have failed to get funding on the show.

Since filming, the process has had a very positive impact on Nicola to extend her business further. “It was one of those moments that changes you! Who I was then and who I am now, are very different people. My trade is hairdressing, I love the industry, co creating hair to make a difference to how someone feels about themselves is the best feeling in the world! 

I’m a hairdresser at heart and always will be. Dragons Den was a life changer. As a hairdresser it’s not just the end product, it’s the experience and the journey along the way, till you show your customer the big reveal. My purpose now is to improve that experience for the hairdresser and the customer giving hairdressers more time to focus on their client. Concentrating while multitasking can be highly pressured and stressful in the salon so to be able to take that away is where my products come into play.

I wanted my concentration to be on the person in the chair making a difference and my revolutionary products make it easier for me to multi-task keeping my attention on the customer improving the experience. I’m a hairdresser and now entrepreneur loving how my products are changing the way hairdressers work for ever!

Since Dragons Den I have gained a wealth of new contacts and learned that I’m a businesswoman with a purpose. I’m now an entrepreneur going to market with a whole host of new products ready to take to market. When I did the show, my vision was short term and Easiweft my only product, but now with the Easibond and Easitint, I have a true vision of my new brand, Hair Made Easi, a series of tools and products to prioritise what’s important, that is, innovation, creativity and you!
